Credit Where it’s due – Apache Neethi and Apache WSS4J

Dan wrote about support for WS-Policy and WS-Security in his project but he left out a most important detail (IMHO!). They use Apache WSS4J and Apache Neethi to do the *actual* heavy lifting for the WS-Security and WS-Policy specifications respectively.

  1. First, I did mention Neethi – “The Assertion class is from the Apache Neethi project which provides us with a nice API for working with WS-Policy.”

My focus was really on the intersection of Policy and Spring though. I should dedicate another post to Neethi, as its definitely deserving of one. The normalization stuff seems to work great. It also provided some great extensions point for us. For instance, we created a JaxbAssertion class which allowed us to use JAXB objects inside policy files.
