Suppose i am following someone and would like to respond to a tweet and make sure it is seen by the original person. There should be some way of doing that! (specifically when the original person is not following me). No?

There is a way that you can track messages people have marked with the @username convention. The RSS feed is http://twitter.com/statuses/replies.rss you’ll need to autheticate but that way ppl can track who’s talking to them.
